Asutifi North Police Arrest Seven Over Suspected Drug Activities

Seven suspects arrested in Ahafo region after police raid suspected drug den in Kenyasi on October 1.
The Asutifi North District Police have arrested seven individuals suspected of drug-related offences following a targeted raid in Kenyasi. The operation took place on the night of October 1 in a known hideout within the district capital. Police recovered several unregistered and unlicensed motorbikes alongside the detained suspects.
Superintendent Harold Yamoah Ponkor, the district police commander, confirmed the arrests and explained that the action was part of ongoing night patrols designed to boost police presence and discourage criminal behaviour. He stressed that this raid formed part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal hideouts and remove drug peddlers and other groups threatening community safety.
While the police successfully took seven people into custody, several others managed to flee when they realised officers were approaching. Yamoah Ponkor assured the public that the suspects would appear in court by October 2 or 3, and that manhunts would continue to apprehend those who escaped. He added that such operations would persist until the district is largely free of illegal drug activity.
