Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni called on Ghana’s judiciary to stop delaying corruption cases and allow accountability to prevail for national development.

During the Asogli State’s Choral and Anti-Corruption Day Celebration, themed around institutional integrity, Awuni challenged courts to purge systemic corruption and uphold transparency. He cited examples from developed nations where strict enforcement reduced graft, noting Africa’s struggle with unchecked theft of public funds. Law enforcement, he said, must execute duties without compromise while the state creates policies that deter corruption through swift consequences.

The campaigner praised Omanhene Togbe Afede XIV for institutionalising Anti-Corruption Day to spotlight graft’s damage to Ghana’s development but warned chiefs against shielding corrupt officials. He reinforced that families teaching integrity produce more ethical leaders, unlike households normalising dishonesty. While acknowledging corruption persists globally, Awuni urged institutions to reject exceptions for the wealthy and prioritise accountability to rebuild public trust.
