Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu explains the Interior Minister's comment on drug trade concerns security officials, citing France cocaine bust arrests.

Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu clarifies that the Interior Minister’s remarks on drug trade referred specifically to security officials under investigation.

This follows widespread interpretation of the minister’s statement suggesting political involvement in drug trafficking networks. Kweku Boahen expressed concerns about foreign officials commenting on the nation’s narcotics challenge. But speaking on Joy News' PM Express, Ofosu stressed the minister’s words referred to people inside agencies like customs and police,

not politicians or high-level decision makers. He pointed to recent arrests of customs officers in France as context for the minister’s comments to Parliament.

The clarification zooms in on whether drugs flow through political circles, with Ofosu insisting evidence points elsewhere. His firm stance overrides lingering unease about the minister’s initial phrasing before the parliamentary committee.

The Interior Minister sought to override Minister of State Freda Prempeh’s assertion that only one political party had such figures before the UK-based ExpoCIK conference.
