Adenta Court Sentences Bolt Driver to 25 Years for Armed Robbery of Beautician

22-year-old mechanic Emmanuel Kofi Mensah received 25-year hard labour term after violently robbing a beautician of phones and cash in Adenta.
An Adenta Circuit Court has sentenced Emmanuel Kofi Mensah, a 22-year-old motor mechanic and Bolt driver, to 25 years in hard labour for violently robbing a beautician of personal belongings.
The court, presided over by Mrs Angela Attachie, convicted Mensah after he pleaded guilty to the September 23, 2026 robbery at Mantey Farms, Adenta. Prosecution led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo detailed how the victim, Yvonne Dzane Dzifa, hired Mensah’s services from Madina Zongo Junction to travel to Adenta Barrier.
When Dzila requested to alight, Mensah locked the vehicle doors and drove toward Adenta-Dodowa Road. After she sensed danger and shouted, he stopped at Mantey Farms, demanded her handbag, and attacked her when she refused.
He pulled her from the car, struck her repeatedly with a cutlass, and slashed her left wrist and little finger. Despite her resistance, he seized her bag containing two iPhones valued at GH¢18,000 and GH¢3,500, cash of GH¢3,200, and other items.
Prosecution stated an accomplice later joined Mensah on a motorbike, but the victim escaped into nearby bush after grabbing a backpack from the vehicle. She later sought refuge at a house compound until police rescued her the next morning.
Hospital records confirmed deep cutlass wounds to her wrist and finger, along with body bruises. She formally reported the incident, leading to medical documentation and treatment at Pantang Government Hospital.
On September 24, 2026, at approximately 1300 hours, Mensah attempted to sell one of the stolen iPhone 17 Pro Max phones at an Apple shop in Madina Zongo Junction. The shop owner recognized the device from the victim’s description and alerted authorities, resulting in Mensah’s arrest.
Police recovered the cutlass allegedly used in the attack from Mensah’s clothing during a search. In his caution statement, he admitted the offence and sought forgiveness.
The court noted Mensah claimed the Bolt vehicle belonged to a Nigerian friend he could not identify, and efforts continue to locate the accomplice and the vehicle’s owner.
Separately, the court denied bail to a businessman accused of fatally assaulting his girlfriend, a prominent Kumasi beautician, in a case that has drawn significant public attention.
