VP Urges Multi-Sectoral Action to Combat Malnutrition

Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has advocated for stronger multi-sectoral action and increased investment to curb malnutrition globally. She highlighted that tackling the issue requires coordinated efforts across health, agriculture, education and social protection sectors. The call was made during a recent engagement focused on nutrition financing and collaborative strategies.

In Ghana, malnutrition remains a pressing concern despite progress in some areas. The Vice-President stressed that continued investment is essential to scale up interventions that improve maternal and child nutrition. She referenced ongoing initiatives supported by international partners as models for replicable success.

While the appeal was made in a global context, the challenge is deeply rooted in local conditions, including regional disparities and socio-economic factors. Addressing it, she said, must involve communities, civil society and both public and private institutions.
