Three Arrested for Flying Drones Over EOCO Headquarters Amid Baffour Awuah Investigation

Three persons, including a woman, were arrested after drones were flown over EOCO headquarters during questioning of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) arrested three individuals on Thursday, October 1, following an incident where drones were flown over its Accra premises without authorization during the questioning of Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah. The arrests occurred amid heightened security at the facility, where the MP had just reported himself to assist with investigations into alleged financial irregularities. According to 3News sources, the drones hovered over the premises for several minutes before EOCO officials tracked and arrested the suspects. The motive behind the drone operation remains unclear and is under investigation. This incident follows ECOCO's issuance of a court warrant for the MP on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, over financial loss concerns to the state. The warrant came after repeated invitations for the MP to appear before the office. EOCO has detained the MP, with investigators accompanying him to his residence and office to execute a search warrant. The arrests come as part of broader scrutiny into financial dealings involving the MP, with his legal representative, Atta Akyea, confirming the detention. The incident has intensified focus on security protocols at state institutions, particularly during sensitive investigative procedures involving high-profile figures.
