Minister urges faster progress on Suame Interchange Phase One
Roads Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza tasks Rango Construction to accelerate work on the Suame Interchange as progress stalls at five percent.
The Roads and Highways Minister, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has urged the contractor handling the first phase of the Suame Interchange project in Kumasi to speed up work after only five percent was completed.
Speaking during an inspection, he said the slow pace was unacceptable given the project's importance to Kumasi’s traffic flow and urged all parties to resolve design issues on a single day rather than dragging them out for weeks.
He called for immediate on‑site design reviews, with the contractor, consultants and urban road officials meeting together to settle technical challenges before moving forward.
The Minister stressed that the government would not wait a full week for every amendment and expects decisions to be taken within a day to keep the project on schedule.
Construction of Phase One of the Suame Interchange, which began in August 2022 and involves a fly‑over and bridge works, remains incomplete, but the minister says it should be finished by the end of next month if the pace improves.
Rango Construction was awarded the contract by the government in 2022, and the minister’s directive aims to ensure the works are completed on time for the benefit of commuters in Kumasi.
