KMA orders final exit from Abrepo Junction by October 4

KMA issues final notice for Abrepo Junction traders and operators to leave by October 4 ahead of Suame Interchange expansion.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has served a final eviction notice to traders, garage operators, businesses and other occupants at Abrepo Junction and adjoining areas. They are required to vacate the designated corridor by Sunday, October 4, 2026. This is to allow preparatory works for the Suame Interchange Project Phase 1. The directive follows earlier engagements and a notice issued on August 25, 2026. KMA has assembled a demolition team to begin removing unauthorised structures and left items from October 8. The assembly warns it will not replace or compensate for losses after the deadline. Phase 2 of the Suame Interchange is 87% complete and slated for October opening. Stephen Asante Boateng, KMA’s Head of Urban Development, confirmed the move aims to clear the way for infrastructure upgrades. Affected traders have been told to relocate to Racecourse Market, while garage operators should contact the Works Engineer there for relocation help. The enforcement targets unauthorised structures, goods and utilities such as ECG lines and Ghana Water pipes. KMA stresses no compensation will follow after October 4. The project corridor spans parts of Abrepo and includes new overpasses and widened roads. This eviction clears space for long-awaited traffic solutions in Suame.
