German Embassy Honors Ghana’s Unity at National Day Reception
Ambassador Landshöft commends Ghana’s peaceful identity harmony at German National Day event in Accra.
German Ambassador to Ghana Frederik Landshöft praised Ghana’s ability to maintain unity amid diverse religious, cultural and political identities during a reception marking Germany’s National Day in Accra. Speaking at his residence on September 30, he noted Ghana’s remarkable capacity to hold different identities together in peace, a trait he said Europe could learn from amid rising global divisions. Reflecting on Germany’s own reunification, Landshöft emphasized that unity must never be taken for granted, especially as war returns to Europe and uncertainty grows worldwide.
The event highlighted shared values between Ghana and Germany, including democracy, international cooperation and a commitment to a rules-based global order. Landshöft pointed to deepening collaboration in technical and vocational education, youth development and economic partnerships, noting Germany’s status as one of Ghana’s key bilateral partners in technical and financial cooperation. He stressed that Germany’s ageing population contrasts with Ghana’s youthful demographic, creating mutual opportunities for skilled workforce exchange and developmental growth.
More than twenty German public and private institutions now work with Ghanaian partners to implement Germany’s dual vocational training system. The reception featured cultural performances blending German and Ghanaian traditions, showcasing the strong people-to-people ties between the two nations.
