Audit Service urged to enforce surcharges, modernise audits to curb GH₵100bn losses

The Auditor-General has been pressed to use all constitutional powers of disallowance and surcharge against public sector abusers. This is seen as a key step to stop the alleged GH₵100bn that is lost each year through financial mismanagement.

Stakeholders also want the Audit Service to adopt modern audit methodologies. They say retooling audit firms and techniques will improve detection of irregularities and enhance accountability across government departments.
