Ashanti NPP Communications Director Condemns Destruction of Aspirants’ Posters

Dr. Kerskin Opoku Owusu warns that damaging NPP aspirants' posters threatens Ghana’s democracy and stability
The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Kerskin Opoku Owusu, has denounced the alleged tearing down of posters belonging to party aspirants ahead of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference.
In an exclusive interview with Adom News journalist Kwadwo Obeng Mireku, he argued that such acts undermine democratic practice and demand swift action from the relevant authorities.
Dr. Opoku Owusu pointed to a viral video purporting to show the spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Minister removing posters of an NPP candidate, claiming no public statement has yet been made against the incident.
He urged supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress to refrain from similar conduct, reminding them that the NDC, too, will organise its own internal elections and conferences in the future.
The director warned that retaliatory measures could jeopardise national peace and stability if left unchecked.
Quoting his own appeal, he said that if the President can trace the source of an insult against him to effect an arrest, security agencies should equally be able to track down and apprehend those destroying political posters on the streets.
Dr. Opoku Owusu further cautioned that continued vandalism of NPP materials, coupled with a failure by the government to intervene, may provoke responses when the NDC later hosts its own internal processes.
He called on the security services and other state actors to step in immediately to avert an escalation of the conflict.
The news item falls under the category of politics and is centred in the Ashanti Region, specifically Kumasi.
No public event with a fixed date, time, venue or ticketing information is mentioned in the source material, so the event field remains empty.
