Engineer Projects at Newmont Corporation
The role is for an Engineer Projects at Newmont Corporation’s Ahafo South underground operation in Ghana’s Ahafo Region. Newmont is a global mining company with over 100 years of history, known for safe, responsible mining and a strong focus on community partnership. The Ahafo South site is Ghana’s largest gold mine and a flagship operation in Africa, producing over 10 million ounces of gold since 2006. It combines open‑pit and underground mining and plans to extend production well beyond 2050. The position offers a long‑term career at the forefront of Ghana’s mining industry while contributing to sustainable value for host communities. What you will do: Coordinate engineering work packages for underground development and related infrastructure, including ventilation, dewatering, water services, electrical distribution, controls, communications and compressed air. Review drawings, specifications and technical deliverables for compliance with approved scope, Newmont standards and regulatory requirements, and manage comment and close‑out processes. Conduct regular underground and surface inspections to verify safety, quality, progress and alignment with IFC drawings, permits and work methods. Support quality management by reviewing ITPs, witnessing inspections, recording deficiencies and tracking corrective actions. Monitor contractor technical performance, verify field quantities and progress, identify constraints or deviations, and provide evidence for progress claims and performance reviews. Provide technical inputs to project controls on verified progress, forecasts, schedule constraints, scope changes, risks and opportunities. Identify and assess engineering risks, participate in hazard, design, constructability and operability reviews, verify mitigation actions and escalate safety or design issues. Support construction completion, commissioning readiness and handover through walkdowns, punch‑list closeout, as‑built documentation and transfer of residual technical risks to operations. What you need: A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering, with professional registrations where applicable. Minimum three years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in underground development, infrastructure, mine services or contractor‑delivered projects. Working knowledge of underground development cycles and service systems such as ventilation, water/dewatering, power, communications, compressed air and mine‑service interfaces. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, schedules and contractor submissions, and to use relevant design, modeling, document and database systems. Practical knowledge of field inspections, QA/QC, ITPs, RFIs/TQs, change control, redlines/as‑builts, risk registers and technical reporting. Strong written and verbal communication, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, accurate record keeping and willingness to stop unsafe work. Problem‑solving ability to complete procedural tasks, use practical judgment, explore alternatives and improve methods through experience. Self‑awareness, teamwork, collaboration and the capacity to lead or contribute effectively within a diverse team. How to apply: Apply via the Apply link on this page.
